LFI engages in projects across a wide range of fields and disciplines. The common denominator is an approach that begins with formulating the right questions and incorporating the knowledge of stakeholders who are closest to the issues into the research process.

Online Dialogue Program for Middle Eastern, European and US University Students Working with Soliya, a non-profit  using new technologies to facilitate dialogue between students from diverse backgrounds across the globe, LFI conducted an evaluation project aimed at understanding the impacts of Soliya's Connect Program on students and universities. The Connect Program uses web-conferencing technology to bridge the gap between university students in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and the United States.

Community-School Support for Orphans and Other Vulnerable Children LFI contracted with the Academy of Educational Development to design a monitoring system for strengthening program quality and tracking program outcomes in 80 community-school collaborative projects in northern Namibia. These projects were aimed at providing nutritional and psychosocial support to AIDS orphans and other children made vulnerable by HIV in the local community. These programs were initiated and managed by local community members and school leaders through a small grants program funded by USAID/PEPFAR. To download a report on the development of the monitoring system, including the full set of program strengthening and outcome tracking tools, click here.

Multidisciplinary Approaches to Sustainable BioEnergy The NSF IGERT Program in Multidisciplinary Approaches to Sustainable Bioenergy (MAS BioEnergy) at Colorado State University is designed to prepare PhD graduates who are trained as interdisciplinary scientists with a full understanding of the technical challenges facing the emerging bioenergy industry. LFI designed a multi-method evaluation framework for tracking students' development as interdisciplinary researchers, impacts of key courses and internships, and institutional impacts.
